Interface Design - Information Architecture

About Me:

A friend of mine once said there are two types of people in the world, people who like mountains and people who like oceans. This is a dilemma for me as I love mountains and oceans, but if I had to make a choice, I'd take the ocean, because there is something limitless about the ocean and that appeals to me.

Ever since I was a child I have loved design, I used to spend hours building miniature cities out of clay. I love all types of design as long as they're good, or really bad, interestingly bad. I love architecture, sculpture, digital design, furniture, signs, vistas, and modern design in particular. I am intrigued by Pre-Fab and am looking for that dense eco-urban modular city, with maximum public transportation, in some tropical paradise.

Keeping up to date with global economics and politics is one of my hobbies. News Hour on PBS is a great reason to buy Tivo, and one of my favorite magazines is the Economist.

My career path in Interaction Design and Information Architecture combines my passions for design and economics, in a tangible and flexible way. The thing I like most about my work is in building tools, which connect to people and their lives. These connections can be on an individual basis or at a global level. The process of interaction design is similar to piecing together a puzzle, where ideas are the building blocks and are directly transformed into devices that people interact with, creating more ideas.

In a past life I was a designer of physical goods and a production manager. I traveled a lot for this job, 6 to 9 months a year, for 6 years, in thirty five countries and five continents. Some of my favorite places are Bali, India, and Nepal, and cities Berlin, Barcelona, Istanbul, Amsterdam, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo.

Personally, my favorite past time is spending time with my wife and son. I really enjoy taking my four year old, Cooper, for bike rides. Cooking for family and friends is also a big hobby of mine, as is going out to fine restaurants and not so fine restaurants. I miss Padang food, which is an Indonesian Beer food. There's an Indonesian saying, "The fly's can eat at any restaurant, so they always eat at the best ones", and Padang restaurants have more fly's then any other restaurant.

Sports I love include jogging in parks and bicycling, I enjoy skiing, snow boarding, hiking, swimming and just being active in nature. One of my favorite places is a river system called Aqua Azul, in Mexico, with miles of beautiful cascading waterfalls, which you can climb through for hours.

And that's a little about me,

Cheers!
