Interaction Designer, Accruent
Redesign of Contract Software solutions, client server and thin client.
September 2002 to August 2003, Santa Monica, CA. - Contract
My Assignment: I was contracted for a redesign of five standalone Contract Software
solutions, which were being consolidated into a single Enterprise Contract Management
suite.
Accruent had the leading Real estate Management Software solution, which was a
Client Server application built in Visual Basic. Along with this application Accruent
had contract solutions for Build Outs, Professional Services, Intellectual Property,
Equipment, and General Contracts. Each vertical's solution had a unique interface,
work flow, layout and navigation.
The challenges at Accruent included analyzing their existing offerings and understanding
the present value that these applications held for their users, then translating
these findings into a cohesive suite.
Techniques Used:
- Business objectives analysis, Redesign Strategy development.
- Application Audits and analysis.
- Integrated Work Observation, Interviews and Testing with Customers.
- Agile - Scrum process.
- Task and Work Flow analysis and development.
- Diagrammed application interface architecture using documentation, schematics,
and wireframes.
- Design common user interface standards, usability and design guidelines.
- Defined User Interface Interaction Models and Navigation Models.
- Developed Wire Frames, Annotated Prototypes, click through HTML Prototypes.
- UAT Customer Validation with Prototypes and Annotated Diagrams Flows with each
feature enhancement.
Examples of work at Accruent:
Existing Application: functionality split arbitrarily into multiple popups, which were themselves burried in tables:
New Refined Application: flattened functionality to one screen with features organized to optimize workflow:
